Heather Read is an emerging visual artist who has recently returned to Southern Ontario.  Stained glass windows and First Nations prints inspire her colourful works.  This show of watercolour paintings, "The Light Got In" is a retrospective of the three years spent living in Newfoundland and the Yukon, and travelling in Latin America. 
Join us Friday, May 2 from 7pm to 9pm for an opening reception to meet Heather and view her paintings.

Learn to knit - Beginner knitting
1 lesson, 2 hours

You will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, cast-off, all these while making a simple scarf.

Beginner crochet

Learn your first crochet stitches and start a fun crochet project.

Beginner Fair Isle
6 weeks course, each session 2 hours.

A beautiful and practical felted tote bag is the perfect way to learn how to do stranded colourwork.  You should know how to knit and purl confidently to take this class.  The class will cover how to cable cast on and bind off, pick up stitches, knit in the round, I-cord and I-cord bind off, stranded knitting and felting.  You will also have an introduction to colour theory, learn the structure of Fair Isle patterns and how to read a Fair Isle pattern chart.

Instructor Mairi McKissock is an engineer and technical writer who has been knitting for over 30 years.  Mairi knits, designs and teaches a variety of styles and techniques.
Her specialties include Fair Isle, Turkish, and other stranded colourwork patterns, Swedish two-end (twined) knitting and lace.
Mairi believes that every knitting class should leave students feeling confident and empowered to tackle broad new areas of knitting.  She hopes that many of her students go on to design their own projects.

Lace Gloves
Project class - create the beautiful lace fingerless gloves from Robin Melanson's "Mittens and gloves" book.
Instructor: Robin Melanson
Dates: Saturday May 17
          3pm - 5 pm
Cost: $30 - does not include materials.
Designer Robin Melanson will share her expertise and get you started with this project.
The class will be followed by a group knit-along for 2 weeks to help you finish this beautiful project.
Class is limited to 8 students.

If you are an intermediate or advanced knitter and you want your project to have that "perfect" look, this is the class for you.
Instructor Robin Melanson will share some of the most effective techniques for finishing.
Homework required, please ask about  homework at registration time.

La Randa Tucumana (needle lace)
4 sessions, 2 hours each
Instructor: Adriana  Ortiz Romano from Argentina.
Dates: Saturday, May 10,17,24,and 31 (11 am - 1 pm)
Cost: $85 including materials
Learn to make this stunning lace crafted with 2 sewing needles.  A traditional art from Argentina that can add fine lace edging to any garment.  Have Adriana demystify the intricacies of needle lace for you and have you creating as quickly as she does in no time.
Minimum 4 students Maximum 6

Lorraine Robbin will be holding a vintage clothing sale and talk about collecting vintage apparel.
