Beginner Fair Isle
6 weeks course, 2 hous sessions
Instructor:
Mairi McKissock
Dates:  Sunday, May 4,11,18,25, June 1 and 8.
Cost: $100 plus GST and materials

This beautiful and practical felted tote bag is the perfect way to learn how to do stranded colourwork.  You should know how to knit and purl confidently to take this class.  The class will cover how to cable cast on and bind off, pick up stitches, knit in the round, I-cord and I-cord bind off, stranded knitting and felting.  You will also have an introduction to colour theory, learn the structure of Fair Isle patterns and how to read a Fair Isle pattern chart.
Instructor Mairi McKissock is an engineer and technical writer who has been knitting for over 30 years.  Mairi knits, designs and teaches a variety of styles and techniques.
Her specialties include Fair Isle, Turkish, and other stranded colourwork patterns, Swedish two-end (twined) knitting and lace.
Mairi believes that every knitting class should leave students feeling confident and empowered to tackle broad new areas of knitting.  She hopes that many of her students go on to design their own projects.

Improve Your (Knitting) Photography
3 hours
Sunday June 15th, 1 pm - 4 pm

Michelle - winners of Yarnharlot's Sock Picture Scavenger Hunt.
Cost: 45 + Kit cost(TBD aprox $10).
Do you wish you took better photos of your knitting?  Are you tired of washed out, blurry pictures of projects that you put hours and hours of hard work into? Are you confused by the buttons and features on your digital camera? Do you feel like your friends point and laugh at the photos you post to your blog or Ravelry account?
Take your knitting photography to the next level with this introductory course in basic photography techniques.  Anyone can learn to take beautiful photos of their knitting and other craft projects, and you don't need a fancy or expensive camera to do it!  In this hands-on course you will learn the basics of

* Lighting

* Focus

Bring your camera, the user manual (if possible) and a small knit project or two to practice on.
Class is limited to 6 participants.

Cost: $25.
Learn various methods to increases and the best application for each. Discover how they affect the look and feel
of your knitting. Bring light coloured yarn for easy to see stitches and a set of needles.
